Day of His power

I attended my first Day of His power event yesterday. There were 9 separate locations in Singapore where the event took place. The objective was to gather Christians to pray for our nation together. It’s a symbolic act in preparation for National Day.

I was glad to be able to attend with my family, where we went through the three areas of focus: Turning Singapore Godward, Winning the Youth and Blessing the Nations.

There was a brief explanation and exhortation for each area, before we prayed. During that time, I felt two verses come to life.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” Psalm 133:1

I saw the body of Christ coming together in unity. In fact, when we are united, God is pleased. Also, the world will see and know that there’s something different when we are united.

So often, we spend our time fighting in another, not just within the church, but even outside the church. We spend our time and energy fighting with our brethren when we ought to be united as one.

Infighting presents a disunited front, it’s almost like the picture of a family that is broken and disunited.

“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:19-20

Secondly, I’m reminded of this verse. Sometimes, we wonder why our prayers are not answered or why we are so ineffective in our ministry. Could it be that we are not united in prayer.

The promise here is that when two or three people are gathered in the name of the Lord and make our request to Him, He will answer. There is power in unity, there is power in corporate prayer.

That’s our family praying together. So thankful for the opportunity to pray alongside my wife and daughters.
