NOC fireside chat during NUS Student Life Fest

This week, NUS organised the Student Life Fest, where freshmen could explore the various CCAs, activities, and programmes offered by the school during their university time.

NUS Enterprise Academy was also out in full force. The entire team was on the ground, and we launched our new campaign (more on that in another post).

One of the events that we organised was a fireside chat with four NOC alumni. What I like about this panel is the fact that there is diversity in the speakers. Diversity not in the usual sense of the word, but rather in terms of the career paths taken by the speakers.

We had a lawyer, founder, public servant, and a consultant on the panel. They spoke about how their NOC experiences developed their entrepreneurial drive, which in turned helped them in their career path.

Dexter shared the following framework, which I thought was quite interesting and helpful for our careers and decision-making.

  • Who is Responsible
  • Who is Accountable
  • Who should be Consulted
  • Who should be Informed

Basically, when making a decision or embarking on a project, it is important to consider the above points. Knowing who is responsible, accounted, should be consulted and informed is necessary to map out the stakeholders and engage them appropriately.

What do you think of this framework? Do you use it in your work and project?
